Road Closures – West Street and Lilley Bottom

Dear Residents,

There will be essential maintenance works carried out in West Street by Affinity Water from 26th to 29th September. The road will be closed from the junction at Lilley Bottom to the A505, although there will be pedestrian access.

Lilley Bottom will also be closed for carriageway repairs from 18th to 20th October. Highways are stating it will be closed from the 30mph sign by The Stables to the gateway for Lilley Dog Walking Field between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

There is also a scheduled closure of Lilley Bottom on the bridge over the A505 from 20th to 30th October, with a planned diversion route to be confirmed. This will be preceded by works on 9th and 10th October requiring traffic control and not closure of the road.
There are also scheduled lane closures on the A505 by Lilley, on 9th and 10th October. No further details have been advertised as yet.

Dates and/or traffic control may alter nearer the time – this is the current information as at Monday 18th September. We have requested clarification of the diversion route and also of the school bus access.

  1. Is any action going to be taken to address the issue with the work vans parking on the road and blocking traffic in both directions?
I appreciate that they are working on the houses on the corner but they are causing an obstruction every day.
The school bus was delayed by 40 minutes this morning due to their inconsiderate parking. The village was gridlocked!

    • Thank you for contacting the parish council. Each time I receive a report of traffic and parking congestion in Lilley, I pass it on to the Planning department at NHDC. They are being kept regularly informed about the delays to the buses as well.
